Why Should Ayurved Be Your First Choice Of Treatment?

Why Should Ayurved Be Your First Choice Of Treatment?

Why has this centuries-old tradition lost its importance? Haven’t we ever questioned this?

Rapid modernization is occurring in all aspects of our Indian culture. It has greatly challenged the traditional portrait of Ayurved. The period when India faced the ‘British Raj’ was a black phase for Ayurvedic culture. Not only Britishers amassed our material wealth, but they did not allow the practice of Ayurved in India. But it still survived the test of time and the lineage was sustained in villages and homes.

While the western world is exploring this treasure of Ayurvedic knowledge, here is why Ayurved is losing its credibility in India! And why it should be your first choice of treatment by not falling into false accusations.

The modern lifestyle is composed of a lack of physical activity, insufficient sleep, and high amounts of stress which can be the underlying cause of health problems.

Ayurveda has a holistic approach and considers mind, body, and spirit in a singular connection. Unlike modern medicine, Ayurved is holistic, natural, and friendly- herbs, meditation, yoga, therapies. Every health practitioner carries out a detailed assessment of the patient – where it is a major or minor disease. He takes a holistic analysis of physical, physiological, psychological, emotional, spiritual, and genetic history.

2. Time Tested technique and diagnosis

Ayurved is an age-old tradition and devised according to Prakriti found in Human beings. All its therapies have been practiced for thousands of years and they have brought great results. According to ayurved a human being has 3 Prakriti, in which one remains dominant throughout the year-

  • Vata– reflects quality of air and space elements and represents body movements.
  • Pitta-It is made of fire and water elements and takes care of our digestion, nutrition, metabolism.
  • Kapha– It reflects earth and water elements and takes care of dense parts of our body like bones, teeth, etc.
  • Ayurved follows ‘Astavidha Rog Pareeksha’ – way of diagnosis to check eight aspects of our body like- Pulse, urine, stool, voice, tongue, skin, eyes and body build.
  • Ayurved, therefore, has a deeper way of diagnosis to understand your illness, unlike other ways of medicine.

3. No side effect

Unlike modern medicine, Ayurved hardly bears any side effects in its medicine as well as treatments. Adverse side effects are generally caused due to chemical overdose or due to synthetic chemicals which do not suit your body. Ayurvedic medicines are chemical-free and it is based on primitive herbs and natural supplements extracted directly from Nature.

Ayurved is a herbal science and it completely focuses on Nature’s extracts to cure any ailments. Most of the time, the cure is so simple and easy that you may find it in your kitchen itself!

4. Prevention as well as cure

Ayurved believes in prevention before cure. It gives an immense focus on staying healthy and cautious that there remains no provision to get sick. Ayurved has elaborated ways on how to stay balanced with the rhythm of natural cycles of Nature to keep all the 3 doshas in synchronization. When the rhythm of the body is in perfect harmony with the cosmos, the individual feels energetic, joyful, and comfortable. When this harmony fails, it results in diseases.

Prevention happens before and after the diseases. There are certain ayurvedic rules for it like- Dincharya, Rutucharya, rules for mental health, seasonal cleansing like panchakarma, medicine, diet, and exercise. By following these rules, one can address the root cause of illness, before anything results in serious conditions.

Let us understand the Origin of Ayurved better…

origin of ayurvedAyurved is originated from the Atharvaveda, one of the four Vedas. All the four Vedas are said to be born from Lord Brahma, the creator of the Universe. It is supposedly said that the knowledge of ancient medicine is passed from Lord Brahma to Lord Indra. Later on, AshwiniKumar acquired this science from Lord Indra. He invented well-known rejuvenation therapies and pioneered the technique of Plastic Surgery.

Lord Dhanvantri- a disciple of Ashwini Kumar carried the tradition further. He used the traditional and ancient science of Ayurved for benefiting society. Since then, Ayurved has been propagated to us over the generations.

What Ayurved does For You…

The main aim of Ayurved is to maintain health. Ayurved is a Sanskrit word where ‘Ayu’ means life span. Ayu refers to the combination of mind, body, and soul. ‘Veda’ means knowledge or science. Charaka defines Ayurved as that science that deals with advantages and disadvantages along with happy and unhappy states of our lives, the good and the bad in life, along with Life itself. It is now quite clear that Ayurved is not only a system of medicine, but it is a way of Life for attaining the goals of life- Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha. These goals cannot be achieved without good health.

The philosophy of Ayurved stresses maintaining an equilibrium with Nature. It says that if a man’s spiritual health depends on his ability to live with the external Universe, then his mental health must depend on his ability to live in harmony with himself.

Ayurveda sees every disease and every state of health as a connected whole. A man’s mental health has both physical and social impacts. Since the beginning, Ayurved has paid equal attention to illness of the mind as to illness of the body. To calm the mind and bring back the equilibrium, Ayurved has several alternatives like diet, aromatics, therapies to bring back the mental equilibrium.

Ayurvedic Constitution and its Balance

ayurvedic lifestyleJust like everyone has a unique fingerprint, every person has a definite pattern of Energy. It means that every individual has a specific combination of Physical, Mental, and Emotional characteristics that form a constitution. This constitution is determined by birth and remains the same throughout life.

All of us come into this life with certain characteristics which define us and that Prakriti stays constant in our life. In modern concept, it is called Personality. In Ayurved, it is called Prakruti. As per Ayurvedic philosophy, the entire Universe is an interplay of the energies of these 5 elements- Air, Water, Fire, Earth, and Space. Vata, Pitta, and Kapha are combinations of these five elements and transform them into patterns.

Ayurved is ancient health that focuses on the betterment of your ‘Swastha’ through balancing these three Prakriti present in your body. This ancient science of life is a true, holistic way to embrace health and embody your true potential.

Welcome to the World of Ayurved.

Ayurved- a slow process? Unmasking this common myth.

You might have avoided a simple steam inhalation for curing a cold and choose to pop a pill instead. Why? Because you think taking steam inhalation isn’t quick enough or isn’t effective enough!

Ayurved has been around humans for thousands of years. The Vedas are a rich source of this science of medicine. But the efficacy of this medicinal science has been enveloped with many myths.

It is such myths that keep people away from seeking diagnosis from Ayurvedic therapies.

Let us unmask this.

It is a common myth found in people that Ayurveda is effective and that it removes the disease from roots, but it takes time for the medication to show the desired results. It is found to be very slow. Everyone has developed this myth firmly in their minds.

But is a sure fact that it is not true.

Ayurved also has medicines that work within 2-4 hours or 24hrs and shows its effect.

Like we have medicine for chronic diseases in Ayurved, it also has medicine for acute diseases as well. There are medicines which are very effective for the same.
But unfortunately, people are unaware of it.

Secondly, ayurvedic treatment takes time is also because we approach Ayurved only when we have already taken therapy from other medicinal streams and we have failed at getting healthy by following them.

So as a last resort we go to Ayurved. Then for the sake of trying, we just try Ayurved as an option because we have explored all other alternatives.

Afterward, when a person comes to Ayurved, he has already been through a lot of medication. So, when an ayurvedic practitioner starts an ayurvedic treatment for the same, he/she cures the side effects and damage caused to the body by those toxic medicines.
Only after then, the process of healing through Ayurved starts.

Therefore Ayurved has to do 2 things:

  1. Damage control and
  2. Actual efficacy on the real root cause of the disease

That is the prime reason why it takes more time.

But we do not respect the process. WHY?

This is because after starting the medicine and taking it for one week or three weeks, we did not see any effective results.

On the other hand, if you face any disease or illness and from the very beginning you take ayurvedic medicines, without trying any different type of medicine, then in minimum time you will get the best results through the ayurvedic treatments.
And you will see that in comparison to all other medicinal systems or schools, Ayurved will free you from your disease in the least time in comparison to others.

Therefore, It is our humble request and a high recommendation that before trying any different kind of medication, you should directly stick to Ayurved as the first choice, then there are most chances that you will recover from your disease in the least possible time.
